The Diverg-AI project (funded by an Awards for All grant from the National Lottery) brought together people aged 18+ identifying as neurodivergent living in and around Norwich.
During the course of 24 sessions taking place over 12 months, we worked co-creatively producing a variety of illustrated stories and comics exploring the use of AI tools in the creative process.
All of the neurodivergent participants to free to use AI tools in whatever way they wanted - interesting noone chose to just let AI do all the work!
Many participants, being keen on drawing or writing already, simply used the ideas and potential problems surrounding AI use as a leaping off point, going on to create prose and artwork using traditional “analogue” methods.
Whereas, other participants were happy to incorporate the use AI to help out with aspects of their work, such as generating outlines of stories (as with Ben's "Couriers Travels") or creating artwork from prompts in Jon Richmond’s Sports / Horror mashup tale “Murder, Madness, Cricket”.
